Strange Folder

Did you highlight it, rt-click and select delete?
or just try to move it to trash?


I would open a terminal and
sudo cd /home/"yourusername"/Desktop
and then
sudo rm "whatever the name of this file is"

without quotation marks, of course, and
substituting the relevant information where I've placed quotes.
What IM program were you using?
Nobody should be able to sent you any file unless you accept the
transfer.
