Endles loop of login sound file(s) in edgy

Hi

My Edgy plays the gdm greater sound in an endless loop after startup and an 
endless loop of the user login sound file after login.

The only solution I figured out so far is kiling aplay and esd.

What is irritating to me is the fact that this strange behaviour shows up 
after an upgrade some weeks ago (in Jan). There was no problem after the 
installation, gdm-greater and gdm-splash sound files where played (once) as 
expected.

Any ideas how to fix this?
