How to load Edgy version of a package onto Dapper?

OK I'll take your and Noop's advice and not mess with Edgy repositories
for Dapper.
Backports were commented out in my sources.list.
I tried commenting _in_ the backports repository in sources.list and
using 'dselect select'
Searching for vim only gave me the old version which I already have.
Is there another repository I can try to find the latest vim?
