Try this instead:
Download the rpm file at
http://www.lacie.com/download/drivers/4L-1.0-r6.i586.rpm
Use alien to convert it for deb:
alien 4L-1.0-r6.i586.rpm
(If alien is not installed: apt-get install alien)
Now you must had installed on your system, among other things, two new
softwares (one command line tool and one GUI software) and the manual:
/usr/bin/4L-cli
/usr/bin/4L-gui
/usr/4L/doc/4L_User_Manual.pdf
Read the manual (something that always help). Verify on the manual if your
driver is fully supported.
The graphical software, 4L-GUI, is very user friendly. You only need to load
a photo and locates it correctly, after that you must command to record.
If you receive an error message complaining about the lacking of
libXinerama.so.1, just install it as usual:
apt-get install libxinerama1
(Obs - get libxinerama1 for Sarge at www.backports.org)
Finally you must be able to record without hassle.
