I remember having that problem when I first came to Linux.  I viewed it
as a learning experience and have since opened terminal first to
elevate (sounds better than escalate  ;-} ) my admin privileges as the
program opens.
Should the OP not do likewise instead of depending on the program/OS to
do so for him?
Really, <sudo program_of_choice> isn't so hard and then you /do/ get
asked for your password.
I'm not sure I want that much babying from my computer, no offense to
the OP.
