Recursive (ie, these files/directories and any files & directories below
them)
All  - add read & write permission
* - all files/dirs in the current directory

I only mention this to point out that, while I've been using Linux
constantly for about a decade, and various Unixes intermittently for 20
years before that, I've only recently bothered to figure out what those
options mean.  chmod seems easier using numeric permissions (only because
that's what I first learned), and everything is easier with a gui file
manager :-)
