No GCJ, only Sun Java5: how??

Well, my mileage *does* vary. I first checked the man page for
update-java-alternatives. Then I ran the tool with the --list option and
this is what I get now on my system:

java-1.5.0-sun 53 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun

No other options. Then I ran the tool itself without any arguments and it
returned without errors, so I assume it went OK.

After that, I launched Synaptic again and still it insists on installing
GCJ when I want Tomcat 5.5. So, no step forward until now...
