Is Edgy Desktop CD and use to reduce internet load when upgrading

Hi,
on a sidenote, I use (K)ubuntu Edgy and found that the Edgy _DVD_ works as
an install source, as well.
And when it came to installing new packages I was duely asked to insert the
DVD and only after installing from the DVD, anything that was missing on
the DVD, was installed from other repositories via Internet.
