Hi,
while I basically fully agree that the current Hardware Hype is mostly
beneficial for the wintel corporate shareholders, it has to be said that
there are applications where you need more performance eg. Video encoding,
XEN Virtualization, CAD-Applications....
Again, I personally think that a decent P3 works well as a notebook
for "normal" usage with Linux, while anything else is much better (and much
cheaper) handled on a desktop.
Nevertheless different people will have different needs.
