Really slow starting time for VMWare

I've been running VMWare Workstation inside Edgy, before that Dapper,
FC5 etc, never had a problem. Lately I've noticed it takes forever to
start up - both the VMWare application itself takes up to 5 minutes to
fully load, as well as the XP image once VMWare is loaded - a good 3
to 4 minutes sometimes before the VMWare BIOS boots and the image OS
starts to load. I've changed nothing in the last 2 weeks other than
normal system updates (no kernel etc changes). When started from the
command line the only error I see is:
/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware:
/usr/lib/vmware/lib/libpng12.so.0/libpng12.so.0: no version
information available (required by /usr/lib/libcairo.so.2)
one time only. Once it's fully started and the image is loaded it
seems to be OK, normal responsiveness.
I'm running VMWare Workstation 5.5.3 build-34685, Edgy fully
up-to-date with kernel 2.6.17-10-generic
Any ideas?
Cheers
Ed
