I've been running 1.3.3.6 on Dapper for awhile. It's a bit slow on my
ancient 450Mhz w/256Mb, but a considerable improvement over the 1.2x
versions. I'll upgrade to 1.3.3.7 later in the week.

I recommend uninstalling the Ubuntu versions and installing the lastest
version directly.

I'd also recommend *not* following the instructions on:

<http://wiki.scribus.net/index.php/Getting_Scribus_on_Ubuntu/Kubuntu_up_and_running>

where they recommend:

Note that there are packages for Ubuntu/Kubuntu Breezy¹, Dapper and
Edgy, Edgy or Feisty² users should simply replace "dapper" by "feisty"
or "edgy" in the belowmentioned repositories:

I don't recommend Dapper users adding any Edgy or Fiesty repositories. I
can think of no better way to screw up a solid Dapper system than by
doing that... been there done that. By doing that you also are prone to
installing other libs that are not intended for Dapper.

It's much easier (and safer IMHO) to download & compile/install directly.
