I afraid I haven't the slightest idea where you came across that
information. GRUB is, after all, the Grand Unified Bootloader. Why is it
that you claim that it is not a bootloader?
As for Brian's question, it is possible that you will need to edit
menu.lst on the primary drive, but I'm not sure of Ubuntu's detection
mechanisms. If you do need to, it is relatively easy to do. Just be sure
to edit outside of the automatically configured lines. There are
warnings about this in the comments that are rather hard to miss.
