release confusion

The problem with this approach is it's too much like Debian.  Not being
Debian, with it's long release times, is why I changed to Ubuntu in the
first place.

One major problem for me is that such an approach doesn't keep up with
new hardware, as there are not new kernels with LTS.  Having to roll
ones own kernel rather takes away the advantage of sticking with a
particular distro. 2 years between LTS releases is rather a long time
in kernel terms.
