Hmmm, Mario's post hasn't appeared here yet.
Nevertheless I think you both are laboring under a false assumption; I
don't mean xfce, I mean xfe, the X file explorer.
In fact I /have/ switched from the default but xfe is still a file
manager.  It just doesn't offer previews which was the claim for all
file managers.
