No, login as the root user is disabled. See

This is kinda, somehow, true, but saying it that way is probably
confusing. Again, please check the link above

> $ su root
> enter_password_for_root_user
> $ whoami
> root

This cannot and will not happen of a default Ubuntu configuration,
because of the disabled root login. There is no password (and there
cannot be) which will be accepted.
