3. Install ntfs-config. It will give you a GUI menu for configuring ntfs-3g.
4. I'm not sure about this one. You should be able to have both installed
via apt/get/Synaptic, but X will only allow you to have one or the other
configured and won't switch dynamically. One solution would be to just use
the vesa driver, but it won't perform as well.
5. Well, as you pointed out, booting the same OS install on multiple
computers is really not very common. While most devices will simply hotplug,
allowing for far more portability than Windows (which freaks out if booted
in an alien computer), X kind of seems to be an exception. As far as
gdesklets specifically, well, I don't use it, but I'm sure there are others
here that do. :)
