Network Interfaces take a while

I've got a wireless pcmcia card for my laptop and am using ndiswrapper
for the driver. I use network manager to connect to various wireless
access points. When I boot the laptop, it hangs for about 30 at the
"configuring network interfaces" sequence of the boot. I commented out
all of the interfaces in /etc/network/interfaces except for lo of
course, and when I boot, my laptop starts up super fast (but I have no
network interfaces once I log in). It seems that it is timing out, but
how do I tell it not start at boot until network manager is running?
