Thanks for the thought.  I'm pretty sure that's not quite it.  That bug 
is about suspend and hibernate failing.  My first install on this box 
was Edgy and used the 2.6.17 kernel.  It worked then.  Now that I've 
upgraded to Feisty and the .20 kernel, it sort of works, but not 
completely.  It works to suspend, all the acpi stuff works.  But on a 
thaw from hibernate, the system comes back, but the Fn buttons fail. 

The one thing I know is different (since 2.6.19) is that ibm_acpi is no 
longer considered "experimental" and is enabled by default.

If I file a bug at launchpad, do you know what I should include / attach?
