Google talk uses the jabber protocol (XMPP), so you can use any jabber
capable client. I'm using

mutt is surely a good mail client. But I like gnus, if you like emacs
you should find it attractive too.

AFAIK is wengaphone something like skype, so it wouldn't be any standard
software.
