No one has mentioned Perl yet, so I will.  You can easily be very
productive in Perl even before you know any advanced programming
techniques and methods such as object oriented programming.  Plus
there is a wealth of modules (http://search.cpan.org) that you can use
with Perl to make your life easier and save you from reinventing a lot
of wheels.
