Nautilus has an annoying habit of keeping mounted drives open even after
you've closed windows and the like. Whenever I have this problem (which
is most times I actually use a drive rather than just mount it and
immediately unmount it), I do an "lsof | grep -i <name of mount point>"
and find that it's a nautilus process that's obnoxiously holding on to
the drive. At this point I "kill -9 <nautilus' PID>" and I can unmount
the drive without any further issues. When nautilus comes back (it
reloads automatically), it opens up an explorer window to my home
directory, just like it does if I unmount a drive while a nautilus
window is open on it.
