Would such an adapter get around my earlier posting shown below?

The part number of the adapter is Sy-usb-p.

Thanks.

Scott

Subject: Help with Scanace 1236p and Ubuntu 7.04

I was given a scanace 1236p parallel port scanner as a gift a while back which
worked well under Win 2000. I haven't used the scanner in several years and
have since installed Ubuntu 7.04. Pacific Image, the maker (or labeller of
the scanner), no longer wants anything to do with flatbed scanners, including
offering any drivers for it.

I've learned, through various web sites, this scanner appears to have different
brand names, so people on the list might have it working with a different
company's name.

I've been fussing with [x]sane and plustek drivers under 7.04 and just cannot
get the scanner to be recognized.

I'd appreciate any help in getting the scanner working again. xsane keeps
saying no scanner can be found, which is likely true, if I can just get driver
support integrated!

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Scott
