Might want to consider what I did - I took what I had of MP3
files and converted them to ogg.
The folks here on this list pointed me to a nifty tool called
mp32ogg - it's ran from a shell and using mp32ogg --h will give you a
list of parms that is super-easy to use and more importantly,
understand.
At least for now - I how no need to worry about plugins for MP3
playback because of this tool.
Keep in mind tho - if you are really a discriminating
audio-buff, you may hear the difference by using this tool based on the
fact that you are now using double-crompression.
Of course, when it comes to ripping music from your CD
collection (as is the case with myself) you can specify to save the
files as you rip to ogg format.
That being said - there really is a difference.
