Try downloading the files again. Sounds like they were not downloaded 
properly or there are missing files. Maybe you do not have the complete set 
of files? What is the URL to the files you are trying to download?

Par2 works reasonably well on Ubuntu but it can only fix a limited amount 
of damaged data.
