Luca,
My environment has about 120 users, when I started we were getting about
6,000 inbound emails directly to one Exchange 2000 box. The vast majority of
those emails were not real addresses. I put an ubuntu-server with
Postfix/Clamav/postgrey/spf/spamassassin adn we now normally see about 2500
emails incoming. That server forwards on to Exchange 2003 (upgraded) which
scans for spam/viruses (again, though it rarely if ever finds any viruses,
it will catch occasional spam). Postgrey made the biggest dent in those
invalid recipient emails, but this script (
http://www-personal.umich.edu/~malth/gaptuning/postfix/) helps a lot too.
