Hello,

I've been trying to install Ubuntu Linux on a PC, and can't get past the
disk partitioning segment. I had a previous installation of Mandriva
(hate it) on two partitions, and tried to reformat them and install Ubuntu.

Boot method: <CD>
Image version: <ubuntu-6.10-desktop-i386.iso>
Date: <Mar 2 2007 7:30AM>

Machine: <VIA Technologies VT82C693ABX>
Processor:    Intel x86 Family 6 Model 8 999MHz
Memory:    196MB
Partitions: <below from installer>

Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot worked:    [O]
Configure network HW:   [O]
Config network:         [O]
Detect CD:              [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives:     [O]
Partition hard drives: [tried to use existing]
Create file systems:    [E]

/media/hdb1    hda1    fat32    18.65GB
swap           hdb1    swap       478MB
/home          hdb3    reiser    5.84GB
/              hdb4    reiser    8.60GB
hdb2 extended->
/media/hdb5    hdb5    fat32    23.4GB

Click continue, recieve error:
No root file system!

There doesn't seem to be anything I can do - I specified root and home
partitions, but when I click Continue I get an error icon saying there
is no root file system.

Any suggestions?

RL
