I think one of the main problems that drive up the price of an ogg
player is the fact that it needs a faster decoder than mp3, so the
hardware required to decode is more expensive to produce.  Someone
correct me if I'm wrong about this.  There is little or no cost of
firmware modification, since xiph.org I think is still providing their
services free of charge to companies who wish to make their players
compatible with Ogg Vorbis.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this
as well.
