graphics acceleration

I don't believe there are accelerated proprietary drivers for PPC linux
(assuming you have an ATI chip in your ibook). I think the open-source
drivers work. I am on a PPC mac, but it is running OS X right now :)

ATI faq for gentoo, mentions non-x86 drivers (and lack of proprietary ones)
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/ati-faq.xml

a mostly useless ubuntu forum thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=152054

The DRI page:
http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/

The xorg 'ati' or 'radeon' driver *may* work with DRI on PPC. I'm very
uncertain about acceleration on PPC, but it seems neither are many
others on this list. You may need to google for genisi (other PPC hw
vendor, specializes in linux), tungsten (authors of the OSS ATI driver),
and other PPC linux distro forums. If glxinfo doesn't say you're running
accelerated after trying the ati / radeon drivers and double-checking
your DRI in xorg.conf, you may have to do some serious research. Good luck!
