Weird USB problem

Hi All,

Since re-installing Edgy from scratch, I am getting the following error
every time I connect my Canon A520 (A.K.A. IXUS 50):

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 154

  Minor opcode:  3

Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 154

Failed to open device
Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the
authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based
authentication failed
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 154
  Major opcode:  143
  Minor opcode:  3
  Resource id:  0x0
Failed to open device

And then it claims the camera isn't connected.

I run Digikam as root and the it *was* able to access the camera and
download the pix to a folder...

Seems like a permission problem...

Where should I look?
