vmware update problem STILL there

There is a new vmware-server package update available - to
1.0.4-1feisty1.

Unfortunately it has the exact same problem as 1.0.3-1; it won't accept
that the update has been applied, so the updates icon on the panel
continues to say that one update is available. Actually updating a
second (or third or fourth) time mercifully downloads nothing, but does
cause a re-install of the already-downloaded package.

What gives?
