Hi Cj
When I did my installs there was also what seemed like a freeze at the 82%
mark. I did some research at the time to find that was actually normal as it
was downloading something (i forget what) at that time. It's likely not
essential to ubuntu's daily operations so unplugging the net likely resulted
in the install not completing that part? I'm no expert here of course. K,
just looked it up again and found it. Exerpt from the site here
"I think my gripe with Gutsy was that it seemed to freeze at 82% during
installation at a stage called something like "Scanning Mirror". This
operation took so long I thought the installation failed the first time, so I
rebooted the computer. The second time around it took a very long time again
(something like 20 minutes), but I left it alone and eventually the
installation continued. If this is a common issue, I think there should be
some warning that a certain stage of the installation can take a very long
time. In the past, I've been able to set up Dapper, Edgy or Feisty in about
20-25 minutes, so it was a big surprise to me that Gutsy took so much
longer."
