     Not really, but some guesses (since no one else has responded):

     1. The process above is for reading into an ISO; if it were the 
other direction I'd suggest checking the media you're writing. But 
unless there's a system limit I'm of which I'm unaware, this *should* work.

     2. In a similar vein; can you be certain there isn't some sort of 
copy protection in use?

     There are tools for doing this, which are better than dd; DVD:Rip 
which is kinda complicated but really effective, and Thoggen, which 
isn't complicated at all.  Both are in the repos.

     If you're just wanting to grab a copy of the main feature for 
backup, I'd suggest Thoggen. It's almost so simple it looks complicated; 
you'll see what I mean when you get there.
