Busted Gutsy upgrade on Thinkpad

This is on a Lenovo T60p.

Here's a list of initial problems after the upgrade. I have not
tested everything yet, of course, but wanted a single list for other
Thinkpad T60p users.

Can anyone give me some suggestions where to start looking on any of
these?

Much slower
-----------

Logging-in is much slower. I disabled xgl (and do not have any
desktop effects enabled).

    .config/xserver-xgl/disable

That helped a bit but still noticeably slower than Feisty.

Wireless is no longer detected.
-------------------------------

If I boot with my old 2.6.20-16-generic kernel I see in dmesg:

[ 18.552000] ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel.

plus all the wlan-specific loading.

With Gutsy I see nothing related to wireless. Do I need to
specifically load the ath_pci module now? Tried modprobe and it
didn't seem to load the wireless extensions.

Ironic, because the main reason I was upgrading to Gutsy was to solve
wireless problems (frequent disconnects and "Dazed and Confused"
panics).

I've had such good luck with wireless in the past I'm not that
familiar with where to debug.

Sleep no long works
-------------------

Well, that sucks. The screen dims, and the little moon icon flashes
and then it just hangs. Worked perfectly under Feisty.

Logout
------

Minor problem, but before the login screen appears again it now
displays the startup screen for a few seconds (showing the init.d
scripts output).

Mutt
----

This is weird. Mutt still works, but the mailbox list ( c+?+<tab> )
shows all zeros for the sizes of the mailboxes.
