installation problem

Hi everybody, I have a strange installation problem.
I boot from the CD and the screen comes up with all the option.
I chose the first one which is : start or install ubuntu.
when i pressed enter it showed a loading bar in the middle of my screen saying 
that its loading linux kernel.
After it disappeared some green dots started to come up in the upper part of 
my screen.
After that comes my problem: the screen goes black and it only shows a 
flashing little underline. And nothing happens.
Do I have to wait more? I waited for like 5 mins.
