SATA suspend support in Ubuntu kernels

Hello,

/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.20/Documentation/power/swsusp.txt writes: "If
you have SATA disks, you will need recent kernels with SATA suspend
support."
What is meant by 'SATA suspend support'? 
Did installing of the DEB program package  linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic
provide me with SATA suspend support?
