How does one clean a messy fstab ?

Thanks for your hint to vol_id !
Looks like I am getting too forgetful and need to write down these to
rememer again !? ;-)
Neil has given quite an extensive and informative reply to my fstab and
I try to get along with his info and suggestions and need to reread and
study more intensively to understand really. ;-))
