Not displaying logo during startup/shutdown

Granted, taking away the "quiet" may be overkill, but if I take it away, I 
have to put something in the "# defoptions=" line or it will be replaced 
with the default by update-grub. And IMHO "vga=normal" doesn't really 
hurt - you just get a standard 80x25 display.

Anyway, taking away only the "splash" option is probably a better 
solution.
