I have had a problem with acpi error messages since July 2007 in my 6.06
LTS. I have asked before, but failed to receive any suggestions. My
problem is that the various logs become gigantic every day, like:
-rw-r----- 1 root adm 131181904 2008-04-15 22:28 syslog
where most of the contents consists of:
/////////////////////// From syslog begin /////////////////////
Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***
Error: Looking up [CMDR] in namespace, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***
Error: Looking up [ADDR] in namespace, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***

Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***
Error: Looking up [DAT1] in namespace, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***

Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***

Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***
Error: Looking up [SSTS] in namespace, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
Apr 15 22:02:40 localhost kernel: [17179685.108000] ACPI-0435: ***
Error: Looking up [CTLR] in namespace, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS
/////////////////////// From syslog end /////////////////////
I have tried to apply "noacpi" to the kernal parameters in boot, but it
doesn't appear to help.
My search for other with the same problem has been to no avail.
Does anybody knows a way to figure out why?
