So if everyone today would begin posting on the bottom, we'd have a easily readable series of posts. 
  Not like you said here.

Top posting would cause one to scroll down read, scroll up read down, scroll up again and read 
down...   posting on the bottom is read down from whatever point one desires and continue reading 
down.  Simple.  Not confusing.
