Firestarter service fails to start

"iptables" is not a "service" in the usual sense of the word. It is a tool for configuring the kernel's
built-in netfilter (packet filtering).

Your firewall is fine, as evidenced by the output you posted in your previous mail.

The start-up script is /etc/init.d/firestarter  :

apt-file list firestarter
[snips]
firestarter: /etc/init.d/firestarter

iptables is started by a script. For example, I have written my own iptables script,
which I set to start immediately after dhcp obtains an IP, for various reasons
that are not relevant to your concerns :)

In summary: firestarter is doing exactly what it is supposed to do on your system,
so you can relax. :-)
