The bookmarks, passwords, extensions, etc are not compatible. Export
your bookmarks, use Password exporter to export your passwords. Use a
fresh profile and install all your extensions anew. Then import your
bookmarks and passwords.
Why are you going back to Firefox 2? Almost all the issues (awesomebar
issues mostly) have been addressed, and Firefox 2 support will end in
a few months. Better to mention what problems you have with Firefox 3
and let us help fix them.
