openoffice 3 upgrade problem

After applying today's openoffice 3.0 upgrade, OO crashes on opening. 
It attempts to recover a previously opened document (I don't recall it crashing with open documents), but then crashes without any error. 

I've tried deleting ~/.openoffice.org but it doesn't fix the problem. 

Has anyone else experienced this? Fixed it?
