There are thousands of file extensions out there. Your desktop manager may
not have a predefined behavior for what to do with the specific file you're
trying to open. A driver for a printer in your case, I would just download
somewhere locally and point to it when you add a new printer. I would
recommend against using automatic file execution or opening from removable
media. That can be dangerous, especially if you're running with elevated
privileges, and not to mention very Windoze-like. Unfortunately it is the
default behavior with some window managers.
