Dropping SSH connections over the internet

Since you mention that it is at your workplace, I would suspect some
kind of company packet shaping. SSH is pretty resilient to brief
losses of connectivity. I've had my Internet connection drop for a
whole minute or so and when it went back up, my connection was still
good to go! I'm no expert and could only speculate, but that is some
strange behavior.
