Lost files

Hi,
Yesterday my son made some research over internet and saved his research
certainly as pictures but I am just guessing here and he is not able to tell
me because he has no isea of what he did. As he wanted to work on it today
he can't find anything that he saved yesterday. Does anybody has an idea of
how I could find out if he really saved something on his computer yesterday?
Right now I am trying ls -Rlah but maybe there is a simpler way.
