You realise that both systems only accelerate certain compatible
full-screen 3D games?

This means that in effect they are Windows-only. There are relatively
few 3D games for Linux.

They won't do anything for the desktop itself. Even Compiz only uses a
small fraction of the abilities of a 3D card. For Linux use,
multi-card rendering is a waste of time.

It's also not that good or impressive on Windows. I've tried it.
You're better off with one decent card than two inferior ones and one
good card will work with everything, whereas not all games support
multiple cards & the performance gains aren't that great even when
they do.
