Kmail corruption of emails - help

Righto folks,

Wife has a wee problem lastnight and i got earache for it.
Symptoms are

1. 3 emails affected - these are old and in a folder for her to keep
    and when they all where clicked on the subject matter was changed   
    to unknowen

2. 1 had unreadable characters in it the other 2 had nothing in the body.

these where not deleted items or items marked for deletion!

version 3.5.6 (i've had no updates for this for a while (in fact just done a check now and had nothing)

I did have this problem before but cannot remember how i fixed it.

That's what I would try too, kmail still has a tendency to do strange


things when the indexes (indices <SIC>) are corrupted.


Close off kmail, go to the directory your e-mail boxes (folders) are


IN (this is installation and version dependant) and do


rm -f .*.index*


do NOT forget the last *, because of .<emailbox>.index.sorted etc.





Then restart kmail, letting it recreate the index files (it does so


automatically) and see if your problems disappear.
