keyboard format

I replaced Windows XP Pro with Ubuntu 8.04 which is new to me and I like it
better.  I tried to get Sun xVM VirtualBox up running as to run Windows XP, but
I was requested to type in my email address.  It came out like this ...
jimkvg"3web.net.  I noticed that there was mix up of some figures on my
keyboard.  e.g. "AT" figure is quotation mark, question mark is É, etc.  I tried
to change configuration of Keyboard in the Preferences to correct format, but I
couldnt. I changed the keyboard to another one, but still same problem. Any tip
on solution of this problem will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.  Jim
