well for some, having a GUI present (and running GUI apps as compared to
text-based apps) makes things much easier, since, if your running a gui
app, you dont have to issue long commands just to do certain things, you
can just use the GUI app and in a few clicks, what ever you wanted is
all ready to go if you see what im saying..
for the more experienced users, then a GUI is not necessary
