    When a page sends an "attachment" header, the result is
  that Firefox only offers to save it and not to open it.

     For instance, the page
http://web.mate.polimi.it/viste/studenti/send.php?tipo=a&id=171&id_insegnamento=329&filename=logica12.PDF
 exhibits this behavior.

     In between I've found that

chmod 0 components/*gnome*

  cures the problem (for FF3.0 but not for FF3.0b5).

     I hope something can be done...
